One session.
Three clear states.

Rung separates preparation from work, makes every transition explicit and keeps the next grip visible before you need it.

The screen shows the state.
The wrist carries the transition.

01

Prepare

Chalk up, set your fingers and take position. Preparation is shown separately and is not counted as training.

Rung on Apple Watch before the first hang: GET READY, 7/3 Classic Repeaters, reach up to the board
02

Hang

The active interval takes over the wrist. Large time, current grip and set count stay legible at a glance.

Rest

Recover without guessing. The next grip appears during the transition, before the following interval begins.

BOULDERING & BOARDS

From the board to the crag.
Track every burn.

Built for chalked hands: oversized outcome buttons, grade scrubbing on the Digital Crown, and peak heart rate recorded for every burn.

SESSION LOG

Attempt Logging

Log each burn as flash, send, zone or fall with oversized buttons. The rest clock starts on its own and records your peak heart rate, so recovery between attempts is on the screen.

STANDARDIZED BOARDS

System Training Boards

Native setups for MoonBoard (2016 Masters, 2019, 2024, Mini), Kilter Board, Tension Board 2, Grasshopper and Decoy — plus custom spray walls and system boards with hold tagging.

GRADE SYSTEMS

Grades & Gym Colours

V-Scale and Fontainebleau with automatic conversion between them. Map your gym's hold colours to grades once, then log a session in the colours that are on the wall.

BENCHMARKS & RPE

Led testing protocols.
Honest load adaptation.

Standardized sports-science testing protocols with mandatory warm-ups, automatic PR calculation, and refusable RPE load proposals.

PROTOCOLS & PR

Standardized Testing

Max Hang (peak added load, 7 s on 20 mm), Min Edge (smallest edge held 10 s at bodyweight), and Repeaters Capacity. Conducted as led protocols with a standardized warm-up; results without warm-up are never accepted as baselines or PRs.

LOAD ADAPTATION

RPE Autoregulation

After a rated session, Rung proposes a load adjustment (≤6 add load, 7–8 hold, ≥9 back off). Always explicit, never applied automatically. If finger tenderness is flagged, load increases are strictly suppressed.

TRAINING PLANS

Periodized blocks.
A schedule that slides.

Five structured blocks mapped onto your chosen training weekdays. Missed a session? It slides forward instead of vanishing or piling onto the next day.

0101 Strength Block · 8 weeks · heavy hangs around one deload, closing on a Max Hang benchmarkStrength
0202 Endurance Block · 7 weeks · 7/3 repeaters, power endurance and density hangsEndurance
0303 Forearm Capacity · 8 weeks · one steady intermittent-hang stimulus with aerobic forearm work (López-Rivera & González-Badillo 2019)Capacity
0404 Off-Season Maintenance · repeating weeks · the smallest dose that holds a block's gains, plus antagonist workMaintenance
0505 Return After a Finger Injury · 8 weeks · graded return-to-load, every loaded session locked behind its rehab phaseRehab
TENDON HEALTH

A check‑in before a conclusion.

In the morning you log finger stiffness, press each pulley structure and review cumulative load. A tender A2 or A4 pulley locks out heavy hangs on its own, whatever the stiffness score says. Rung shows the context and suggests a careful next step; it does not diagnose and does not replace a doctor.

Input
Stiffness, A2/A4 pulley tenderness and yesterday’s RPE
Output
Explainable training guidance
Limit
Not a medical diagnosis

EVIDENCE

Sources visible.
Limits included.

The in-app library pairs 38 peer-reviewed sports medicine and physiology studies with practical climber guides. Every source keeps its studied population, its relevance and its uncertainty instead of a cheap “science-backed” badge. This is one of the 38 entries:

Shaw, G., Lee-Barthel, A., Ross, M. L., Wang, B., Baar, K. (2017)

Vitamin C-enriched gelatin supplementation before intermittent activity augments collagen synthesis

American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 105(1), 136–143

Evidence level
Randomised trial
Population
8 healthy male subjects, crossover, blood markers
Finding
15 g of gelatine with vitamin C an hour before loading roughly doubled P1NP, a blood marker of collagen synthesis.
Does not establish
That any specific tendon got stronger, or that injury risk fell. What was measured is a marker in blood — not tissue, and not an outcome.
